Caring for destination
Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:
Cultural heritage and free of CO2 emissions
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
We are pioneers in Brazil in daily Segway tours and offer an interesting way that locals and tourists experience the town.
We focus on the local cultural aspects during the tour, showing the downtown area from a different angle, valuing the history of our city and each monument. This way, we contribute to keeping the downtown area as interesting as possible and showing locals and tourists charming areas they would probably not notice on their own.
The guides are locals and trained to show you the best spots and to teach you how to ride a Segway.
And the best: Segways use electricity which is produced by hydroelectric plants in Brazil and do not pollute the air or produce any noises.
Tours departure from Crowne Plaza Curitiba Hotel (Address: Rua Pres. Carlos Cavalcanti, 600 - Centro), located in downtown, really close to Shopping Mueller, Passeio Público and Largo da Ordem, the historical centre.
** Please arrive 15 minutes before the tour starts **
I have never ridden a Segway before. Is it easy? Yes! It is very easy. Our guide will teach you and you will only leave for the tour when you feel secure. Riding a Segway is very natural and after some training you will feel very safe.
Is there a minimum or maximum age for riding a Segway? We allow people above 12 years old to take part in our tours, but in case of people less than 18 years old, a parent or legal responsible must sign the contract. We have had people from 12 to 80 years old in our tours and all had great fun.
Are there any weight restrictions for the Segway? All participants must weigh between 45 and 118 kg (100 and 260 lbs). Lighter or heavier people cannot take part in the tours, as the Segway will not operate properly. Thanks for your understanding.
Do I have to book the tour in advance? Yes. According to availability, the tour can be booked even for the same day, but we do ask you to book in advance.
If it rains, will the tour be cancelled? Segways work in rain as well and we have raining coats for our clients. In case of heavy rain, the tour might be cancelled or interrupted and re-scheduled for the next possible time. The weather in Curitiba is unstable and in the same day it might rain and have sunshine. So we wait until the departure time for any change or decision regarding weather conditions.
From where does the tour start? Segway tours start at Hotel Crowne Plaza, at Rua Pres. Carlos Cavalcanti, 600, between the streets Barão do Serro Azul and Mateus Leme, close to Shopping Mueller.
Is there parking lot there? Depending on the availability, you can park your car at Hotel Crowne Plaza for an extra FEE of R$ 10 for the tour duration. There are also other parking lots close to the hotel.
Are pregnant women allowed to ride a Segway? The safety of the unborn child is our priority – sorry, but pregnant women are not allowed to ride a Segway.
May I take my kid with me during the Segway tour? No. Segways were designed to transport only one person. If a kid goes with you, even if the kid is young, it might cause a fall.
Are there lockers where I can deposit my backpack during the tour? Yes, we have lockers with individual keys and a deposit in case you have more luggage. There are small bags on the Segways where you can put your camera and other small belongings.
